Canada fest awards ‘White Winged Horse’

Iranian short flick ‘White Winged Horse’ has grabbed the Most Innovative Short Film award at the 23rd edition of the Reel 2 Reel Film Festival in Canada.

Directed by Mahyar Mandegar, the short film tells the story of a man who returns to his Iranian hometown, which was destroyed in a war some 20 years ago.

He is searching for his childhood friend who had promised him an eternal love – if he were to return as a white-winged horse.

Past and present overlap in the poetic memory and imagination of the boy he once was.

The cast list of the short film includes Sepehr Tehranchi, Hassan Najjarian, Asal Shakeri, Mohammad Bashir, Mehri Ale-Aqa, Arash Vazinezami, and Hajir Moradi.

AtoZinema Company is responsible for international distribution of the film.

According to the Reel 2 Reel, “Through public screenings, hands-on workshops, interactive panel discussions, and public forums, our mission is to involve youth in actively viewing and discussing professionally made films; expose youth to new ideas and cultural perspectives; and offer high-quality cinematic entertainment outside the mainstream.”

The latest edition of the festival was held online due to the situation caused by coronavirus pandemic and the winners were announced in April.
