Iranians observe first Night of Decree

The ceremony of the first Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr) has been held in accordance with health protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The nineteenth, twenty-first and twenty-third nights of the Holy Month of Ramadan are the nights of Qadr, and Muslims seek refuge with their God by staying up, reciting the holy book of Quran, praying, and reciting the prayer of the Jawshan Kabir.

Decree nights' rituals during the blessed month of Ramadan will be held in mosques and holy shrines by keeping social distancing and hygienic protocols as the National Task Force for combating coronavirus decided.

Laylat al-Qadr is believed to be the night when the Quran was first sent down from Heaven to the world and also the night when the first verses of the Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

According to the Holy Quran, the angels descend on this night by God's permission, and this night is better than 1000 regular months of the year. The Muslims believe that during Qadr nights, every man's destiny for the next year is determined.
