Iranian actor Behzad Farahani to turn director

Iranian actor Behzad Farahani is to make his directorial debut with a romance feature film ‘A Guest from the Caribbean’.

Farahani, who is also a prominent stage director, also wrote the screenplay of his debut based on his novel titled ‘A Guest from the Caribbean - A Night with Castro’.

To be produced by Shahram Gilabadi, ‘A Guest from the Caribbean’ is the hidden love story of an experienced tailor who falls in love with a widow whose husband has been executed. 

Farahani, 76, published his latest book ‘55 Short Stories’ last November.

Farahani, who might be remembered by ifilm audience with ‘Abraham, Friend of Allah’ and ‘A Mother's Sacrifices’, is a graduate of dramatic arts and completed his studies in France. His debut movie was ‘Invasion’ (1970), written by him and directed by Hamid Mesdaq.

He has also performed numerous plays for radio and television, and has played leading roles in a number of acclaimed movies of Iranian cinema over the past five decades.
