Internationally-celebrated Iranian filmmaker Mehrdad Oskouee is picked to judge at the ZagrebDox International Documentary Film Festival in Croatia.

‘Sunless Shadow’ director will be among the jury members of the Croatian fest’s 17th edition.

Born in 1969, Oskouee is a photographer, researcher and presenter as well as a filmmaker. His filmmaking career is a big success as his works have attended over 500 film events, the result of which has been more that 120 international awards.

His most acclaimed flick ‘Starless Dreams’, for example, has attended a big number of events and won a plethora of awards, including the best doc at the Budapest Int’l Doc Fest in Hungary, the best film at the Traces De Vies Filmfest in France and the best doc at the ZagrebDox Doc Filmfest in Croatia.

Launched in 2005, the festival is intended to provide audiences and experts insight into recent documentary films, stimulate national documentary production and boost international and regional cooperation in co-productions.

The ZagrebDox is a specialized festival that presents the best creative documentary films whose imaginative form and choice of topics make it unique in Croatia and Europe.

Besides the competition program, ZagrebDox has a number of non-competition programs – retrospectives and films focused on specific subjects, genres, techniques and aesthetics.

The 17th edition of the event will be held on June 13-20.
