Mehrgerd, village of handloom fabrics

Iranian village of Mehrgerd in Sistan and Baluchestan Province is famous for its handicrafts, namely traditional textiles and handloom-woven fabrics.

Handloom-woven fabrics are textiles made using handlooms, including carpets, rugs, and kilims.

Such fabrics are made using naturally-colored yarns and enjoy special designs derived from the nature and culture of the region.

Mehrgerd has been named as the national village of handloom-woven fabrics as five pieces woven by artists of the village are inscribed on Iran’s national heritage list.
