‘The Slaughterhouse’ claims award at French fest

Iranian feature ‘The Slaughterhouse’ has brought home the main prize of the 2021 Reims Polar Film Festival in France.  

Abbas Amini’s movie, which is a narrative of some contemporary social issues, succeeded to win the jury prize of the 36th edition of the Reims Polar filmfest.

“It’s been a few months that Amir has been deported from France. For the sake of his father, Amir is engaged in a shocking crime,” a synopsis for the movie reads.

Produced by Javad Norouzbeigi, the script for the 125-minute film has been co-written by Amini and Hossein Farrokhzadeh.

Hassan Pour-Shirazi, Baran Kosari, Mani Haqiqi, and Amir-Hossein Fathi are notable on the cast list of the movie.

Among the festival screenings of ‘The Slaughterhouse’ include the 18th Chennai Int’l Film Festival (CIFF) in India, the 19th Dhaka Int’l Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh and the 17th Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (HKAFF) in China.

‘The Slaughterhouse’ is also the recipient of the Kim Jiseok award at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.

Earlier iFilm reports have also announced that Iranian award-winning movie ‘Just 6.5’ (6.5 per Meter) by Saeed Roustaee was among the winners of the Reims Polar Film Festival, grabbing the Best Film award and the Jury award of the event.

The Reims Polar Festival hosts thriller and detective films from around the world.

The 36th edition of the International Detective Film Festival already titled Reims Polar was held during May 26-30, 2021 in Beaune, France.
