Iran’s ‘The Visit’ to vie at Ischia fest

Iranian short flick ‘The Visit’ has been selected to compete at the 19th edition of the Ischia Film Festival (IFF) in Italy.

Directed by Azadeh Mousavi, the 14-minute film is about Elaheh who is allowed to visit her husband, a prisoner, after six months.

She and her little daughter, Tara, have just one day to get ready for the significant meeting.

The Bronze Earring Statue for Best Short Narrative at the 6th Herat International Women’s Film Festival in Afghanistan went to ‘The Visit’.

The film has gone on screen at some notable global events, including the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France, the Palm Springs International Film Festival in the US, the Seoul International Women's Film Festival in South Korea, the Figari Film Fest in Italy, the ifva Awards in China, the Flickerfest International Film Festival in Australia, the Friss Hús Budapest Short Film Festival in Hungary, and the Iranian Film Festival of Zurich in Switzerland, where it won best short film award.

According to the official website of the IFF, the event is considered as "a competition open to feature films and documentaries regardless of language: fiction, documentary, animation. The theme of the festival is particularly focused on the location and on the enhancement of the cultural and landscape identity of the territories chosen for the shooting”.

The 2021 edition of the event will be held on June 26–July 3.
