Hashempour gets honorary degree

Veteran Iranian actor Jamshid Hashempour has received a first-class art certificate, which is equivalent to a doctorate in arts.

According to the Iranian Organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs, Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance granted the first-class art certificate to 24 cineastes and voice actors, including Hashempour.

The 24 artists received the honorary degree for their experiences and achievements in cinema.

Due to the coronovairus, no in-person ceremony was held and the 24 were granted their certificates in their homes or workplaces.

Hashempour, 77, made his film debut in 1968.

His performance in Iraj Qaderi’s ‘Invasion’ (1984) turned him into one of Iran’s most popular actors.

He has appeared in numerous movies, including ‘Mother’, ‘Swan Song’, ‘Journey to Tomorrow’, ‘Poisonous Mushroom’, ‘The Fifth Reaction’, ‘My Father’s Farm’, ‘Hush! Girls Don’t Scream’, ‘Kalashnikov’, and ‘The Days of Love and Betrayal’.
