Iranian critic to jury at Cannes

Hamed Soleimanzadeh, an Iranian film critic, is invited to attend the Cannes Film Festival as a jury member.

The Iranian artist will be a Fipresci Critics Award jury member at the 74th edition of the Cannes film event.

According to a media report, Klaus Eder, the General Secretary of the International Federation of Film Critics (Fipresci) has officially asked the Iranian film critic to judge films at the Director’s Fortnight and the International Critics’ Week sections of the French film fest.

Besides being a film critic, Soleimanzadeh is a filmmaker, theater director, actor, author and a university professor. He is currently a member of Fipresci, Iranian Short Film Association (ISFA) and the European Children’s Film Association (ECFA).

The Fipresci Critics Awards are given to winners during prestigious film events around the world including the Vienna International Film Festival in Switzerland, Toronto International Film Festival in Canada and the Cannes Film Festival.

The 74th edition of the Cannes filmfest is scheduled for July 6-17, 2021.
