'Leyli's Image’ director contracts COVID-19

Iranian director Khosro Masoumi has been diagnosed with the new coronavirus and admitted to hospital.

Speaking to media on Thursday, Masoumi confirmed that he tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

Masoumi told ISNA news agency that he has been admitted to Nikan Hospital in Tehran since Wednesday night as 40 percent of his lung has been affected.

Masoumi was born in the city of Behshahr in the Iranian northern province of Mazandaran in July 1955.

He began his artistic career in 1976 and made his feature film debut with ‘Meeting’ in 1986.

Masoumi has made several movies, including ‘Mr. Governor’, ‘How to Kill Love’, ‘Wind Winding Through the Meadow’, ‘The Bear’, ‘Leyli’s Image’ and ‘Taboo’.

He has received many awards at film festivals in Iran and other countries across the world.
