Shajarian pedestrian zone in summer nights

As night falls and temperature drops, some people in Iran’s city of Shiraz wear their masks and spend their spare time in the recently-opened Ostad Shajarian pedestrian zone.

The pedestrian zone is named after the legendary vocalist Ostad (master) Mohammad-Reza Shajarian.

Shajaraian died last October in the Iranian capital city of Tehran at the age of 80 following a long battle with cancer.

Shajarian, also known as the maestro of classical Persian music, was adored by fans around the world.

He won many awards, including the UNESCO's Picasso Medal for outstanding contribution to the arts in 1999.

Here are photos that show some activities practiced by Iranians in the Ostad Shajarian pedestrian zone.
