The short film, produced and directed by Payam Hosseini, is currently on screen at the main competition section of the 16th edition of the Korean event.
'The Kites' tells the story of a young girl whose kite flies away on the slope of a river valley along the Iraqi-Iranian border of Kurdistan.
She calls three boys for help. However, the children are not only separated by the river valley, but also by the explosive legacies of past wars.
The film has already taken part in various film events, including the Lebu International Film Festival in Chile, the Cinekid in the Netherlands and the Festival Curtas Vila do Conde in Portugal.
The Busan International Kids and Youth Film Festival is the only young festival in Korea that has provided a venue for young audiences to communicate through various films worldwide.
The 16th edition of the event will run until July 12, 2021.
