‘Paper God’ hailed at San Francisco Frozen Film Festival

Iranian short film ‘Paper God’ has succeeded to grab an award at the 2021 San Francisco Frozen Film Festival (SFFFF).

The 10-minute ‘Paper God’ brought Danial Mahmudnia the award for first-time director from the Dramatic Shorts section of the 15th edition of the SFFFF.

The film is about Ali, a disabled boy in a wheelchair who aspires to go to the top of a cliff from which he can launch his paper plane like the other boys.

Previously, ‘Paper God’ has been the winner of the best audience choice award at the Hilltop Film Festival in the US state of Alabama.

It has also gone on screen at some other global events, including the 2021 KIDS First! Film Festival in the US, the 2nd MENA - Middle East & North Africa Film Festival in Canada, and the 18th Alicante International Film Festival in Spain.

Ali Khani, Rajou Taqavinejad, and Hossein Aqa-Mozaffari are on the cast list of the short flick.

Iranian short film ‘The Recess’ by Navid Nikkhah Azad also grabbed the best short drama award at the SFFFF.

The SFFFF is dedicated to creating avenues for independent filmmakers, promoting inspiration and providing public avenues for filmmakers to show their art and tell their stories.

The award was announced on Monday in an online event of the event. The festival was held on July 14-18 in the form of the video conference.
