Prades festival declares Iranian winners

The 62nd Ciné Rencontres de Prades festival in France has announced the winners for the Iranian Women Filmmakers section.

Some 30 short films took part in the Iranian Women Filmmakers section, of which eight films competed.

The first prize went to ‘Don’t Tell Anyone’ by Sahar Sotoudeh, while ‘Flasher’ by Pantea Mehdinia received the second prize, ISNA news agency reported.

Meanwhile, Baran Sarmad’s ‘Spotted Yellow’ won a special jury award.

Four Iranian feature films, including ‘Tales’ by Rakhshan Banietemad and ‘The Son’ by Noushin Mearaji, were also screened at the festival as part of the Iranian Women Filmmakers section.

According to the report, ‘Ten’ by acclaimed late Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, which is about Iranian women, was also screened at the festival.

The Ciné Rencontres de Prades festival is the oldest in France after Cannes.

The 62nd edition of the festival took place physically on July 17-23.
