Iran actor to judge at Italian fest

Iranian cineaste Babak Karimi is invited to be a jury member at the Molise Cinema Film Festival in Italy.

The renowned Iranian actor, director and film editor will be among the jury members of the 19th edition of the Italian film event.

The official website of the Molise Cinema introduces Karimi as the Silver Bear winner for his role in Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning flick ‘A Separation’.

But that is not the only time his artistry has been recognized at international venues as he recently won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 26th MedFilm Festival in Italy. He received this honor following his masterful performance in Shahram Mokri’s acclaimed movie ‘Careless Crime’.

Besides working with Farhadi and Mokri as celebrity directors, during his acting career, Karimi has worked with other famed filmmakers such as Masoud Bakhshi in his masterpiece ‘Yalda, A Night of Forgiveness’.

From 2004 to 2007, Karimi has been a consultant of the Venice Film Festival particularly in selecting Iranian films for the festival.

He was also part of the Italy Prospects Jury at the 7th Rome Film Festival in 2012.

The Molise Cinema Film Festival aims to promote the most recent innovative films from around the world and Italy.

This year’s edition of the event is slated for August 8-13.
