RIIFF to screen Iran’s ‘Without Aban’

Iranian movie ‘Without Aban’ has made its way to the Rhode Island International Film Festival in the United States.

Iranian media reports said ‘Without Aban’, directed by Mehrdad Kouroshnia, will compete at the 25th edition of RIIFF.

The film’s participation at RIIFF marks its world premiere.

Co-written by Kouroshnia himself and Ali Asghari, the film is about a man named Aban, who works as a forester.

While Aban was planning his wedding with a girl called Sahar, he witnessed an accident on the road.

In the accident, a little girl dies, even though she was transferred to the hospital by Aban.

Aban suffers a pang of conscience and admits that he killed a girl in an accident about 15 years ago and buried her somewhere, a synopsis for the film reads.

The Rhode Island International Film Festival is founded by Flickers, a non-profit arts organization that supports and promotes the film arts in Rhode Island and throughout New England.

According to an online submission platform, RIIFF is a qualifying festival for Best Short Subject and Best Documentary Short Subject through the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The festival is also a qualifying event for the Canadian Screen Awards.

It is cited and recognized as the largest film festival in New England.

The upcoming edition of the hybrid festival will take place on August 9-15, with in-person (outdoor) and online screenings.
