Italian fest to host Iranian ‘Crab’

Iranian animation ‘Crab’ has been selected to compete at the 2021 Lucania Film Festival in Italy.

Directed by Shiva Sadeq-Asadi, the 11-minute animation narrates the story of a reserved and isolated schoolboy who is a theater enthusiast.

Regardless of his emotional situation, he wishes to play a role in the theater group of his school.

But the only part offered to him is the role of a crab.

The animation has already taken part in a number of global events, including the Ottawa International Animation Fest in Canada, the Countryside Animafest Cyprus film festival, and the Shanghai International filmfest in China.

The Lucania Film Festival is thought to be the first film festival held in Basilicata. The event takes place annually and according to its official website, “It is a project of promotion, diffusion, film training, which intends to promote the knowledge and use of the audiovisual in all its forms”.

The event is scheduled for August 7-11, 2021.
