Tehran preparing for Muharram rituals

People are preparing Tehran to take part in Muharram mourning rituals.

The first ten days of the month of Muharram are the time for martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam and the grandson of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH], as well as his loyal companions in the Battle of Karbala.

During the Muharram rituals, millions of Iranians commemorate the martyrdom anniversary by gathering in mosques and different religious venues.

Last and this year’s Muharram rituals are different from the previous years due to the coronavirus pandemic.
