Iran doc on way to S. Korea

The 13th edition of the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival (DMZ Docs) in South Korea is slated to screen award-winning Iranian short documentary ‘The Snow Calls’.

Directed by Marjan Khosravi, the 15-minute movie will be showcased at the Shorts Competition section of the Korean event.

‘The Snow Calls’ is about an expecting mother named Mina who has one last chance to deliver a boy after bearing three daughters, otherwise her husband will marry another woman.

Fearing the result and the gossip that would ensue, Mina decides not to have an ultrasound scan.

She is already under enough pressure from her in-laws, although she does still have people on her side too.

The film has already participated in a number of global events and succeeded to grab awards, including the best documentary award at the 18th Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in the US and the Jury Prize for a Non-Fiction film at the USA Film Festival.

Launched in 2009, the DMZ Docs in an annual event that aims to show films that theme on peace, coexistence and reconciliation.

This year’s edition of the fest is set to be held on September 9-16.
