Iran local dish, intangible cultural heritage

Persian local dish Gheymeh Nesar features a festival of colors and fiesta of tastes.

The fusion of tastes and colors has been inscribed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in Qazvin Province, Iran.

It’s a special dish for parties and gatherings and you can find and taste Gheymeh Nesar in Qazvin’s friendly homes and local restaurants. This food is mostly served at parties, religious and national occasions and important ceremonies such as weddings.

For the delicious dish, rice is cooked to perfection, then gets mixed with meat, saffron, barberries, along with the likes of almonds and pistachios.

It’s commonly seasoned with salt and black pepper and some special Persian spices like cinnamon and cardamom.
