Mirkarimi has been named as one of three jurors who will judge films competing for the Kim Jiseok Award at the 26th edition of the BIFF.
The Kim Ji-seok Award aims "to remember and honor" the festival's co-founder, who passed away in 2017 after "devoting his whole life to discovering young Asian directors and supporting the growth of Asian cinema", the event's website reads.
Mirkarimi has previously served on several international film festivals juries and made various prominent films, including 'Under the Moonlight' and 'As Simple As That', that were awarded at domestic and international festivals.
Three of Mirkarimi's films, namely 'So Close, So Far', 'A Cube of Sugar' and 'Today', are among the most significant features of Iranian cinema directed by the filmmaker.
The upcoming edition of BIFF will take place on October 6-15.
