‘Flying Fishes’ to vie at Georgian fest

Iranian short flick ‘Flying Fishes’ has been scheduled to participate in the first edition of the Mestia International Short & Mountain Film Festival in Georgia.

Directed by Mohammad Towrivarian, the short film will go on screen at the third competition session division of the event.

The short flick is about a teacher who is new to a village. He notices that the only girl in his class does not talk and has cigarette burns on her skin.

‘Flying Fishes’ has participated in a number of international festivals and grabbed Best Film award at the VKRATZE International Film Festival in Russia, Platinum Medal at the 51st Houston International Film Festival in the US, and Best Film Award at the 6th Rainbow Serpent Festival in Australia.

According to the official website of the fest, the Mestia International Short & Mountain Film Festival is “an event screening mountain-themed feature films…it will be the first festival of this kind to be held in Georgia.”

The event also embraces the short productions by devoting sections to screening them.

The first edition of the fest is slated for September 15-19.
