Sapporo festival to screen ‘Nightly Whispers’

Iranian short film ‘Nightly Whispers’, written and directed by Omid Abdollahi, has made an attendee at the 16th Sapporo International Short Film Festival and Market in Japan.

‘Nightly Whispers’ is about a single dad whose daughter is in a relationship with an unknown guy. The girl refuses to introduce the guy to his father but after all they meet and at that point the father encounters something awkward.

Hadi Eftekharzadeh and Amirreza Ranjbaran are among the cast of this short film which will vie at the international competition section of the Sapporo festival.

Previously, Eftekharzadeh has won a runner-up prize for his role in the drama ‘Charcoal’ (Komur) at the ImagineIndia International Film Festival in Madrid.

Three Meters and a Few Centimeters’ written and directed by Mostafa Salehinejad and Seyyed-Payam Hosseini’s ‘The Kites’ are two other films representing Iran at the Sapporo Int’l festival.

The Japanese festival is endorsed by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, and has selected 113 films from 36 countries from around 3,000 applicants for its various categories.

The 16th Sapporo festival, one of Japan and Asia’s largest and most respected events, is due for October 13-November 30 in Hokkaido.
