Take tour of Iran’s Shahdezh castle

There are some historical castles constructed in South Khorasan Province for the defense purposes, and Shahdezh castle is just one of them.

Driving six kilometers to the east of Nehbandan city, there are the remains of Shahdezh castle over a mountainous area.

Built during the Sassanid era, it is considered as one of the biggest mountain castles in Iran.

In fact a walled city, some 3,000 people resided in the castle back in the time of its glory.

The castle with bastions, alleys, houses, passages and water reservoirs is nowadays a tourist attraction in east of Iran.
