Due to the pandemic just as the previous year, Iranians who are always eager to visit the shrine of their Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS), hold ceremonies in Iran.
Today marks the fortieth day since the martyrdom anniversary of the Imam in which millions of people gather in Karbala to hold mourning ceremonies and attend the Arbaeen walk.
The pilgrimage for this year is underway with a limited number of people due to the pandemic.
In a commendable initiative named "Those Left Behind", Iranians who lost this chance to attend the ceremonies in Iraq gathered on the streets and marked the sad occasion.
Below are some photos showing what the ceremonies look like.
