Golden Apricot to host ‘Lady of City’

The Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival (GAIFF) in Armenia has been scheduled to screen Iranian feature ‘Lady of the City’.

Produced by Pegah Ahmadi and directed by Maryam Bahrololoumi, the movie will be screened at the international competition section of the 18th edition of the Armenian event.

‘Lady of the City’ is a social drama telling the story of a family dealing with an unspecified challenge.

“One of the worst punishments is to imprison yourself forever in the middle of an unintentional mistake or wrong wish, as if you have no way forward, no way back, and no place to stay and no place to go,” a synopsis of the movie reads.

The cast of the movie includes Freshteh Sadr-Orafaee, Behnaz Jafari, Gelareh Abbasi, Saman Safari, Mohammad Valizadegan, Ali Kian-Ersi, Tarannom Kazemi, Behrang Alavi, and Yousef Teymouri.

Bahrololoumi was the recipient of Best First Film Director award at the 36th Fajr Film Festival for directing ‘Patio’.

The Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival's impassioned mantra is to build bridges and foster dialogue between different cultures.

The GAIFF welcomes films representing diverse ethnic groups, religions, and nations that depict the human experience.

It wants to show the everyday lives of ordinary and extraordinary people alike, along with their troubles and joys, illustrating their journey as they try to find meaning and struggle to redefine themselves in a world that recognizes fewer and fewer boundaries.

The 18th edition of the GAIFF is slated for October 3-10, 2021 in Yerevan, Armenia.
