Iran to add handicrafts to Fajr Festivals

Iran has decided to add Handicrafts and Traditional Arts to the country’s Fajr Festivals.

The news was announced by Ali Haji Shizari, an official with the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran.

“We predict that 150 works will be submitted to the First Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Fajr Festival,” he said, adding that the exact number might a bit different.

Fajr Festivals are annually held in Iran during the Fajr Decade (literally meaning ten days of dawn) which marks the anniversary of the ten days from the return of Imam Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic, to Iran (February 1) until the victory day of the Islamic Revolution (February 11) in 1979.

Fajr Festivals include Fajr Film Festival, Fajr Theater Festival, Fajr Music Festival and Fajr Festival of Visual Arts.

The first edition of Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Fajr Festival will be held from January 30, 2017 to February 3, 2017.
