‘Ava’ receives awards from American festival

Iranian short film ‘Ava’ has received two awards from the 6th edition of the Imagine This Women’s Film Festival (ITWIFF) in New York, the United States.

Sasan Karimi’s ‘Ava’ won the Best Short Film and Best Actor awards at the American film event.

‘Ava’ narrates the story of a girl, Ava, who finds her father after a long period of time. The father has been suffering from some mental disorder, IRNA reported.

Like her father, Ava is an artist. She is in a challenge with some social taboos and afraid of having a destiny like her father’s.

The cast list of the short flick includes Hana Kamkar, Mahmoud Nazaralian, Sohabanou Zolqadr, Mahsa Eqbali, Aram Yousefinia, Farzaneh Neshatkhah, Mostafa Parvin, and Bijan Kamkar.

The film has already been screened at the 15th Taos Shortz Film Festival in the US, and the 7th Beeston Film Festival in the UK.

The Imagine This Women's International Film Festival (ITWIFF) is a NYC-based women's film festival that aims to amplify and empower independent and aspiring women filmmakers from around the world.

The event was held on September 23 - October 2, 2021.
