Opened last week in the Iranian city of Isfahan, the festival held its closing ceremony in the Abbas Kiarostami Hall of the Farabi Cinema Foundation in Tehran on Wednesday.
Acclaimed Iranian drama ‘Yadoo’ was picked as best film. Produced by Mohammad-Reza Mesbah, the film brought Mehdi Jafari the Golden Butterfly for best director.
Jafari also won the award of the International Centre of Film for Children and Young People – CIFEJ and the award for best photography director went to Morteza Najafi for his collaboration in the film.
The award for best screenplay was presented to Iranian drama ‘Sea Boys’, written and directed by Afshin Hashemi and Hossein Qasemi-Jami.
It was also selected as best film in the national competition and Yasin Habibpour won the best actor award for his role in the movie.
The special award of the jury of children went to the Croatian sci-fi ‘My Grandpa Is an Alien’ co-directed by Marina Andree Skop and Drazen Zarkovic while the directors also received the Golden Butterfly for best artistic achievement.
‘Lucia’ by Spanish director Juan Pato won the special jury award and the award for best short film was presented to ‘The Silence of the River’ by Peruvian director Francesca Canepa.
‘My Grandmother Matilde’ by Mexican director Miguel Anaya Borja was picked as best animation and the best music award was given to Rohan Rohan for his collaboration in the Indian drama ‘Sumi’ directed by Amol Vasant Gole.
Actors Alireza Shoja-Nouri and Ghazal Shakeri, as well as director Mehrdad Oskouee were the members of the jury.
