Iran cartoonist Ali Reza Pakdel has gained Grand Prix as well as first prize for an immigrant-themed work at 2017 World Press Cartoon in Portugal.
Media quoted Pakdel on Sunday as saying, “I attended three sections of the fest” which is one of most prestigious events in the world of cartoon festivals.
“I won the Grand Prix as well as the first prize for ‘Cartoon Editorial’ section of the event,” the skilled cartoonist said about the accolades he earned at the event.
Both prizes were given to Pakdel for his work titled ‘Immigrants’.
He also said that the closing for the fest was held June 10.
Referring to talented Iran cartoonist, the official website of the festival published that “the author raised the highest monetary prize” for “10,000 euros.”
World Press Cartoon is an independent organization in Portugal. Founded in 2005, the organization is known for holding one of the world's largest and most prestigious annual press cartoon contests.
The 12th edition of World Press Cartoon took place in Portuguese capital city of Lisbon after an interregnum in 2016.
