Tehran Short filmfest announces winners

The 38th edition of the Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF) in Iran has announced the winners of national and international sections.

The closing ceremony of the gala was held on Sunday night in shopping center of Tehran’s Iran Mall.

In the international competition section, the 10-minute ‘Identification’ by Jean-François Comminges from France won the award for the best experimental film and the award for the best animation went to the 15-minute ‘Step into the River’ by Ma Weijia from China.

The award for the best documentary was presented to the 15-minute ‘I Won’t Remain Alone’ by Yasser Talebi from Iran and the 25-minute ‘Beyond is the Day’ by Damian Kocur from Poland received the award for the best fiction film.

In the national competition section, the awards for best sound, best editing, best cinematography, best adapted screenplay, and best screenplay were respectively presented to Amir Asheq-Hosseini and Zohreh Ali-Akbari for ‘Never, Sometimes, Always’, Hossein Jamshidi-Gohari for ‘Last Lullaby in Tehran’, Arman Fayyaz for ‘Leniency’, Mohammad Vahdani for ‘Last Lullaby in Tehran’, and Shadi Karam-Roudi for ‘Never, Sometimes, Always’.

The 38th TISFF, an Oscar qualifying event, was held in physical and online formats at cinema hall of Iran Mall on October 19-24, 2021.

Organized by the Iranian Youth Cinema Society (IYCS), the TISFF is held annually in the Iranian capital city of Tehran to provide an opportunity for young filmmakers to exchange their experiences.
