Harvesting saffron in Iran's Golestan

Saffron (red gold), one of the most valuable spices in Iran, is being harvested in Iranian province of Golestan.

Planting and growing saffron in eastern part of Golestan, in counties of Azadshahr and Ramian, has a considerable influence on the life of residents of the area.

The income earned through harvesting saffron is one of the most important causes of reverse migration to the counties.

Here is a pictorial report of people coming together to harvest the red gold.
