The Iranian handicrafts export has reached 250 million US dollars in total during the Persian calendar year of 1395.
The news was announced by Ali Haji-Shizari, an official with the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran during a ceremony in honor of handicraft producers and artists.
Shizari announced that the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization is determined to increase the exports of this important section of the economy.
He added that a new gallery has been launched at Tehran’s Sa'dabad Complex and a market dedicated to handicrafts and handmade products is to be launched in the Iranian capital.
Iran is a leading exporter of hand-woven carpets and handicrafts. Iranian rugs and handicrafts are highly sought out for their intricate design and skilled craftsmanship.
The US, Europe (especially Germany and Italy), China, Brazil, South and Central Africa, along with neighboring countries are the most important markets for Iranian handicrafts.
