Iranian ‘White Clad’ to vie in Sweden

Iranian short flick ‘White Clad’ has been set to compete at the SAMA International Film Festival in Sweden.

Written and directed by Reza Fahimi, the short flick will take part in the 12th edition of the Swedish event.

The film is about an old woman who gives a block of local cheese she has made to Ahmad, a 10-year-old boy, in order to give it to his father, who is a teacher in the village, so the father can mediate and stop the execution of her young son.

Also set to represent Iran at the 94th Academy Awards in 2022 and to vie at the International Amity Short Film Festival in Turkey, ‘White Clad’ went on screen at a number of global events, including the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France, the Short Shorts Film Festival in Japan, and the Linz International Short Film Festival of Austria.

The purpose of the SAMA International Film Festival is to display and present the works of filmmakers from Afghanistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries which experience less focus on their works in Nordic festivals.

The festival also focuses on films by European and American filmmakers about Asia and presents their works of documentaries and long cinematic films.

The festival is based on values such as freedom of expression, democracy, gender equality, attention to the rights of children and the appreciation of the positive values in life.

The upcoming edition of the festival will take place on November 25-28, 2021, in Stockholm.
