Red Sea to host Iran film

Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ has made way to the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia.

Directed by internationally acclaimed director Asghar Farhadi, the film will vie at the main competition section of the first edition of the event.

Farhadi's feature is about Rahim, a divorced man who has been imprisoned due to unpaid debt. During a two-day leave, Rahim tries to prove that he is a good person.

The movie is starring Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, and Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee.

‘A Hero’ was awarded the Grand Prix at the 74th Cannes Film Festival in France. The prize was also shared by Juho Kuosmanen’s ‘Compartment No.6’.

“The Red Sea International Film Festival is an annual film festival launched in 2019 and held in Jeddah, western Saudi Arabia. The festival will mainly focus on new storytelling trends, as well as emerging talents from Saudi Arabia, the Arab world and the rest of the Global South,” the media wrote.

The first edition of the festival is scheduled for December 6-15, 2021.
