Iranian filmmaker Fateme Mohammadi’s short flick will join the competition program of the upcoming edition of the Turkish screening event.
‘Branded’, which is meant to reflect upon the pains and miseries Afghan immigrants experience, follows the story of an Afghan boy named Hafiz.
Hafiz decides to cross the Afghan border to save a young woman and his young daughter.
The flick is an Iranian Youth Cinema Society production written by Amir Roueeni.
Previous festival appearances of ‘Branded’ include the 2021 Siirt Int’l Short Film Festival in Turkey, the 2021 Festival of Nations in Austria, the 2021 Salento Int'l Film Festival in Italy, the 8th Fresco Int’l Festival of Modern Art and Spiritual Films in Armenia, the 2021 Short Shorts Film Festival in Japan, the 18th Salento Int’l Film Festival (SIFF 2021- Bisceglie), the 23rd Certamen Int’l Cortos Soria Film Festival (SOIFF XXIII) in Spain, the 2020 CINEMAIUBIT Int’l Student Film Festival in Romania, the 15th Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) in Indonesia and the 32nd Girona Film Festival in Spain.
The film has also been honored at the 2021 Fresco Int’l Festival of Modern Art and Spiritual Films in Armenia, the 24th CINEMAIUBIT Int’l Student Film Festival in Romania and the 4th Siirt Int’l Short Film Festival in Turkey.
Iranian short film ‘White Clad’ by Reza Fahimi is also among the Iranian participants at the Turkish fest.
Launched in 2017, the three-day Amity festival promotes films about friendship and amity.
This year’s edition of the event is slated for December 1-5.
