US event to host Iran’s film

Asghar Farhadi’s ‘A Hero’ has won a nomination at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards (HCA) in the US.

The acclaimed Iranian flick will be competing with ‘Drive My Car’ by Ryusuke Hamaguch, Julia ducournau’s ‘Titane’, ‘The Worst Person in the World’ by Joachim Trier and ‘Flee’ directed by Jonas Poher Rasmussen at the event.

Farhadi's feature is about Rahim, a divorced man who has been imprisoned due to unpaid debt. During a two-day leave, Rahim tries to prove that he is a good person.

‘A Hero’ was awarded the Grand Prix at the 74th Cannes Film Festival in France. The prize was also shared by Juho Kuosmanen’s ‘Compartment No.6’.

The film is also selected as Iran’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2022 Academy Awards.

Farhadi’s films ‘A Separation’ (2011) and ‘The Salesman’ (2016) won two Oscars in the best foreign-language film category.

Established in 2016, the event aims to support the underrepresented voices.

The upcoming edition of the HCA is slated for January 08, 2022.
