Iran film wins nom at UK’s awards

World-class Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi’s ‘A Hero’ has been nominated at Golden Globe Awards.

Farhadi’s fourth feature as the only film from the Middle East is nominated by the prestigious award ceremony for Best Foreign Language Film. The film will be competing with Russian ‘Compartment No. 6’, ‘Drive My Car’ from Japan, Italian ‘The Hand of God’ and Spanish ‘Parallel Mothers’ at this category.

‘A Hero’ that recently grabbed the grand prix at the Cannes Film Festival is also selected as Iran’s Academy Awards entry.

Farhadi, the two-time Oscar winning filmmaker, will be honored by Creative Impact in Directing Award dedicated by Variety, American Media Company, at the 33rd edition of the PSIFF.

Director of ‘A Separation’ will be celebrated for his latest feature ‘A Hero’ and his entire artistic productions such as ‘Everybody Knows’ and ‘The Salesman’.

‘A Hero’ is about Rahim, a divorced man who has been imprisoned due to unpaid debt. During a two-day leave, Rahim tries to prove that he is a good person.

The Iranian movie is announced among the feature films eligible for consideration at the International Feature Film category of the 94th Academy Awards.

The movie is starring Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, and Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee.

The 79th edition of the film awards ceremony will be held on January 9, 2022.
