Dubai arts event awards Iranian artists

The 16th edition of Al Burda Festival, a biennial event in the UAE that celebrates Islamic arts and culture, has awarded Iranian artists in six categories.

Held at the Dubai Exhibition Center, Expo 2020 Dubai, the first prize in the Modern Calligraphy category went to Mahsa Javad-Davachi from Iran.

Canadian artist Dhia Al-Jazaeri, as well as Iranian artists Babak Mohammedali-Hejazi and Masoud Asghar-Mohebbifar respectively won the second to fourth prizes.

Iranian artist Ahmad-Ali Namazi-Reyhanlu received the fourth prize in the Classical Calligraphy section.

The second, third, fourth and fifth awards in the Ornamentation category respectively went to Masoumeh Ahmad-Moradi, Afsaneh Khademorreza-Mahdavi, Asghar Ahmad-Moradi, and Zeinab Ebrahimshahi from Iran.

Iranian artists Reza Babajani and Bita Amel were among the honorees in the Typography category.

The 2020 edition of Al Burda Festival, postponed until 2021 due to the pandemic, presented the awards to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH].
