‘The Doll’ to screen at Guangzhou filmfest

Iranian short documentary ‘The Doll’ screened at the Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival (GZDOC) in China.

Directed by Elaheh Esmaeeli, the short represented Iran at the 2021 edition of the event.

The 33-minute doc shows how the whole family members of a young girl can have parts in her future and fate. She is only 14 when the family is making decision about marrying her off.

The short doc has already toured various global events, including the Atlanta Film Festival in the US, the International Film Festival of Huesca in Spain, and the kortfilmfestivalen in Norway.

Rezvan Beheshtian, Sahar Abdollahi, Mohammad-Javad Asadi, and Nabiollah Minaee are the main cast members of the flick.

Held since 1998, the GIFF is annually held during the final week of July in San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato City, Mexico. It was formerly known as Expresión en Corto International Film Festival.

The 2021 edition of the event is slated for September 17-26, 2021.
