A photo contest of intangible cultural heritage is to be launched by UNESCO and Tehran’s ICH Centre.
The main goal of the joint event is to raise awareness over intangible cultural heritage through a photo contest.
In a bid to present the concept of the intangible cultural heritage to more people in the west and central Asia, Tehran ICH Centre under the auspices of UNESCO is to organize the event.
The international photography competition is dubbed “Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Context.”
In this regard, Tehran ICH Centre invites every enthusiast for photography and every individual in local communities who is immediately dealing and actually living with instances of Intangible Cultural Heritage to participate in the competition.
The term ‘cultural heritage’ has changed content considerably in recent decades, partially owing to the instruments developed by UNESCO.
UNESCO established its lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage with the aim of ensuring the better protection of important intangible cultural heritages worldwide and the awareness of their significance.
Among Iranian inscriptions on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list are Radif (motive) of Iranian music, traditional skills of carpet weaving in Kashan and the ritual dramatic art of Ta’ziye.
