US museum to show Iran-Canada’s film

Iranian-Canadian feature film ‘Botox’ has been selected to be showcased at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, US.

The film that counts as Kaveh Mazaheri’s first feature-length movie will be on display at the American museum on January 23.

‘Botox’ is about Akram and Azar, two siblings who have lied to everyone about their brother’s disappearance. They have told others that he fled to Germany and that they have no news of him. Gradually, this lie turns into reality in Akram’s mind. She counts the days for her brother to come back.

Sousan Parvar, Mahdokht Molaee, Soroush Saeedi, Morteza Khanjani and Mohsen Kiani are among the cast members of the flick.

‘Botox’ has previously been screened at a number of global events, including the Burgas Int’l Film Festival in Bulgaria, the Salento Int’l Film Festival in Italy, the Beijing Int’l Film Festival in China, the Fajr Int’l Film Festival in Iran, where it won first-film director award, and the Torino Film Festival in Italy, where it grabbed the awards for best screenplay and best film.

Mazaheri, the director, has already made some successful short films, such as ‘Retouch’, which alone has taken part in more than 50 global film events and gained a plethora of honors.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston is one of the largest museums in the US that screens best films from around the world beside the exhibition of artworks.

Iranian movie 'No Choice', directed by Reza Dormishian and ‘Hit the Road’ directed by Panah Panahi are two other Iranian titles  that will be screened at the museum on January 2022 as well.
