Iran-Afghanistan’s film on way to Bulgarian fest

Iranian-Afghan feature film ‘Once Upon a Time Iran’ is slated to participate in the upcoming edition of the Sofia Middle East and North Africa Region Film Festival (Sofia MENAR filmfest) in Bulgaria.

Afghan director, Gholamreza Jafari’s movie that is produced by Iranian film producer Amir Zemetani will hit the screen at the 14th edition of the Bulgarian filmfest.

‘Once Upon a Time Iran’ is a family drama that tells the story of an Afghan family that work as housekeepers in a villa in Iran.

Vahid Sheikhzadeh, Amir Zemestani, Shohreh Sadat Mousavi, Saharnaz Abbaszadeh, Hassan Maqsoudi, Rounika Bahram and Elnaz Mohammad-Beigi are some of the cast members of the flick.

 ‘Atabai’ by Niki Karimi, ‘No Choice’ by Reza Dormishian, Mohsen Qaraee’s ‘Without Everything’ and ‘When Pomegranates Howl’ by Granaza Mousavi are the other representatives of Iran at the 14th Sofia MENAR.

The Sofia MENAR presents the best of the Middle East and North Africa film productions, including feature films, documentaries and short projects.

According to the official website of the event, the term MENAR is “an acronym often used to cover an extensive area, stretching from Morocco to Iran, including the majority of both the Middle Eastern and Maghreb countries.”

The upcoming edition of the event is slated for January 14-30, 2022.
