Islands of Lake Urmia blanketed in snow

Kaboudan and Ashk are two magnificent islands within Lake Urmia in northwestern Iran.

Kaboudan and Ashk were declared as protected areas about 54 years ago and turned into national parks nine years later.

The two islands lie in the southern part of Lake Urmia.

The islands are home to a variety of mammals and birds, some of which you can catch in these photos.
