Media reports said the short flick is competing to get the Best Short Film award at the France-based multinational festival, which is currently underway in Lisbon.
‘The Recess’, written and directed by Navid Nikkhah-Azad, is about a 17-year-old girl named Sahar who runs away from school to watch a football match of her beloved team.
Sahar, along with three of her friends, plans to leave the school during the break in order to watch the match between Esteghlal FC and Al Ain FC at Azadi Sports Complex.
The film’s cast members include Mozhan Kordi, Reyhaneh Nabiyan, Niloufar Shokouhinia, and Ghazal Khalili.
‘The Recess’ has so far participated in dozens of prominent festivals around the world and managed to grab 10 awards such as the best short film award at the 18th Oxford Film Festival in the US.
The International Festival Signs of the Night (SIGNES DE NUIT) has been transformed into a multinational festival since 2015 and is performed in Portugal besides other countries.
The event screens films “which reflects new views, original imagery and critical approach to the crucial points of the modern human existence”, according to the website of the festival.
The 19th International Festival Signs of the Night is taking place online. It began on December 26 and will run until Friday.
