Award-winning Iranian flick ‘A Hero’ has succeeded to win two nominations at this year’s round of American film event.
Alexandre Mallet-Guy and Asghar Farhadi, the producers of the flick, have been nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film award.
‘Parallel Mothers’, ‘Drive My Car’, ‘Flee’, and ‘Benedetta’ are the other four titles to compete with ‘A Hero’ in this category of the event.
Besides, Farhadi has also been shortlisted to grab the Best Original Screenplay award competing with ‘The French Dispatch’, ‘Licorice Pizza’, ‘Nine Days’, and ‘Pig’.
‘A Hero’ that recently grabbed the grand prix at the Cannes Film Festival is also selected as Iran’s Academy Awards entry.
Farhadi, the two-time Oscar winning filmmaker, will be honored by Creative Impact in Directing Award dedicated by Variety, American Media Company, at the 33rd edition of the PSIFF.
Director of ‘A Separation’ will be celebrated for his latest feature ‘A Hero’ and his entire artistic productions such as ‘Everybody Knows’ and ‘The Salesman’.
‘A Hero’ is about Rahim, a divorced man who has been imprisoned due to unpaid debt. During a two-day leave, Rahim tries to prove that he is a good person.
The Iranian movie is announced among the feature films eligible for consideration at the International Feature Film category of the 94th Academy Awards.
The movie is starring Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, and Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee.
The award winners of CIC will be announced on January 08, 2022.
