‘A Hero’ scores slot on BAFTA longlists

Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ by internationally acclaimed director Asghar Farhadi has been longlisted for the upcoming BAFTA Film Awards in the UK.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) unveiled the longlists of nominees on Wednesday, naming ‘A Hero’ among the nominees in the “Film Not in English Language” category of the 2022 BAFTA Film Awards.

The final nominations will be announced on February 3 after the second round of voting, while the winners will be named on March 13.

‘A Hero’ is about Rahim, a divorced man who has been imprisoned due to unpaid debt. During a two-day leave, Rahim tries to prove that he is a good person.

The movie was awarded the Grand Prix at the 74th Cannes Film Festival in France. It is also shortlisted for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2022 Academy Awards.

The BAFTA is “a world-leading independent arts charity that brings the very best work in film, games and television to public attention and supports the growth of creative talent in the UK and internationally,” the website of the event reads.
