‘Ballad of a White Cow’ to go global

Iranian feature film ‘Ballad of a White Cow’ ('Ballade von der Veissen Kuh' in German) has been set to go on screens at movie theaters in Germany and Austria.

Directed by Behtash Sanaeeha and Maryam Moqaddam, the film will hit the screens in the two German speaking countries on February 3, 2022.

The Weltkino film distributing company is in charge of the screenings in Germany and Austria.

‘Ballade of a White Cow’ is also set to be released in cinemas of Sweden, Japan, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the Balkans.

Earlier on, the French spectators and critics had well-received the film.

China, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Greece, Turkey and some other Asian and European countries are the other destination of the film soon.

The movie is about Mina, a woman whose life is turned upside down when she learns that her husband Babak was innocent of the crime for which he was executed.

The authorities apologize for the mistake and offer the prospect of financial compensation. Mina starts a silent battle against a cynical system for her own and her daughter’s sake.

Just as her money is running out, a stranger named Reza knocks at her door, saying he has come to repay a debt he owed to Babak. Mina is guarded at first, but increasingly lets Reza into her life, unaware of the secret that ties them to one another.

The cast list of the movie includes Moqaddam, Alireza Sanifar, Farid Qobadi, Lili Farhadpour, and Pouria Rahimi-Sam.

‘Ballad of a White Cow’, which was premiered and won award at the Berlin Film Festival, has already been shown at various global events, including the Tribeca Film Festival in the US, the Melbourne International Film Festival in Australia and the Edinburgh International Film Festival in Scotland.
