‘Slow and Sluggish’ enters Meihodo fest

The 4th annual Meihodo International Youth Media Festival (MIYVMF) in the US is slated to screen Iranian documentary ‘Slow and Sluggish’.  

Delavar Doustanian’s documentary focuses on the life of two snails as the only characters of the movie.

Music is used as a tool to narrate the life of the snails in the ‘Slow and Sluggish’.

According to Doustanian’s media interview, “We think that animals are each other’s enemies, but that’s not the case. At the end of the documentary, you will see that animals’ real enemy is human beings”.

‘Slow and Sluggish’ was previously screened at the 34th Pärnu Int’l Documentary and Science Film Festival in Estonia, the 23rd CinemAmbiente - Environmental Film Festival in Italy, the 6th Int’l Nature and Environment Festival in Hungary and the 21st Aporia Int’l Village Film Festival in South Korea.

It is also the recipient of the Best Documentary Film award at the 5th Globe Int’l Silent Film Festival (GISFF) as well as an honorary diploma at the 2020 Int’l Ecological TV Festival “To Save and Preserve” in Russia.

This year, Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker Michael Douglas will serve as guest of honor and advisor at the Meihodo Int’l Youth Visual Media Festival. Douglas will appear during the short film festival’s 2022 virtual awards ceremony to announce the grand prize winner and offer insights to young filmmakers.

The ceremony will be organized via Japan-based Meihodo’s U.S. headquarters in New York City, and stream on YouTube for U.S. audiences on February 22, 2022.

Founded in 2018, the Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival is one of the largest short film festivals in the world.

The goal of festival is to bring young filmmakers from around the world together to celebrate the art of filmmaking.

The theme of this year’s festival will be “Dreaming Big in the Digital Revolution.”
