Fajr Music fest to host global musicians

The 37th Fajr International Music Festival in Iran is set to play host to musicians from Italy, Germany, Afghanistan and Egypt.

As Iran's most prestigious musical event, the festival, which will be organized from February 11 to 15, 2022, will host the Italian Jazz artist Giovanni Guidi.

He will be performing at the international section of the festival on Monday, February 14 at 6:30 PM in Tehran's Vahdat Hall.

The international section will also host Mohammad Abu Zekri, a prominent Egyptian Oud player, on Sunday, February 13 at 18:30 at the Niavaran Hall.

Abu Zekri will be accompanied by percussionist Ersu Kazimov.

The third day of the festival will be tuned by Nicolas van Poucke, one of the most promising Dutch pianists who will perform on at Niavaran Hall at 19:30.

Well-known Afghan music artists known as Qavali Najmoddin including Javad Tabesh, Asef Habibi, Abdul Qader Azizi, Abdul Khaleq Azizi, Gholam Sakhi Rasouli, Houshang Javid and Nematollah Hosseinzadeh will play in Arasbaran Cultural Center on Friday, February 11, at 6:30 p.m.

Moslem Nadlaizadeh is the president of the jury for the lyrics section of the festival.

Mohammad-Ali Bahmani, Esmaeil Amini, Mahmud Ekramifar, Mehdi Amin-Forughi, Milad Erfanpur, Majid Afshari and Leila Kordbacheh make other jury grid.

Ardavan Jafarian will also serve as the director of the international section of the festival.

Established in 1986, the Fajr International Music Festival is affiliated with UNESCO and includes national and international competition sections.

The event is annually held in January in different sections, wherein many renowned national and international musicians perform in diverse genres.

The 2020 and 2021 editions of the festival were held online due to the pandemic.
